Joseph Jeffries-EL (MR EL) commenced his distinguished educational journey at The Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina and was awarded as Advisory Counsel and Fellowship Trustee on June 27, 1973 for his dedication to the education and uplifting of our youth and his concern for the pursuit of higher aspirations and achievements in our young people. At The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania he studied Real Estate Investment Analysis in 1979, and furthered his studies at The Real Estate Institute of New York University in Real Estate Studies, NYS Real Estate Salesperson, and NYS Real Estate Broker Courses in June 1981. His unwavering dedication to education led him to The Ohio State University’s National Center for Research in Vocational Education, where he garnered the attention of U.S. Secretary of Education William J. Bennett, resulting in his appointment as one of twelve Members to the National Advisory Committee on September 23, 1985. The Advisory Committee is a provision under the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Education Act of 1984. Accordingly, The U.S. Secretary of Education appoints individuals who are recognized nationally as experts in vocational education administration and research. MR EL was qualified by the New York State Department of State Bureau of Educational Standards to instruct in real estate qualifying and continuing education courses on April 4, 2018. MR EL was Certified by The International Distance Education Certification Center as a Certified Distance Education Instructor (Online) on May 15, 2020. He Founded as President and Coordinator, the Brooklyn Real Estate Academy, a New York State Licensed Real Estate School on July 8, 2019.

Inspired by President Richard Nixon’s Executive Order 11458—Prescribing Arrangements for Developing and Coordinating a National Program For Minority Business Enterprise on March 05, 1969, MR EL founded FES Sports Academy (now Minority Enterprise Career Schools) as an accredited four-year, private, co-educational, non-sectarian high school chartered by the Board of Regents of The University of the State of New York on September 23, 1983 pursuing the goal of developing positive self-images for urban youth through sports and education. Through the infusion of the principles of sport management, philosophy, principles, and organization of athletics in education into the regular curriculum, FES Sports Academy provided a unique sports-centered vehicle for teaching New York State Education Department’s mandated subjects.

His enduring passion for knowledge drove him to earn a Professional Diploma in Audio Engineering and Production, approved by the New York State Education Department, in 2003. Following his graduation from the Institute of Audio Research (IAR) MR EL founded The Sound of Brooklyn (TSOB)  Records in East New York, Brooklyn. This state-of-the-art recording studio and record label was established with the intent of transforming the urban youth culture by producing quality music with a global reach. MR EL fully recognized the vast opportunities within the $19.1 billion global recording industry. He posited that young people are deeply entrenched in the realms of music, entertainment, sports, and social media, and that Hip-Hop/Rap has transcended being merely a music genre to become a culture embraced by youth worldwide, influencing their attire, speech, and behavior.

MR EL’s career is distinguished by numerous licenses, certifications, and awards. He was Licensed as a New York State Real Estate Broker on June 1, 1981 and registered as a Mortgage Broker with the New York State Banking Department on April 18, 1995. His certifications include Certificates of Election from the Board of Education City of New York School District, where he was elected to three terms as a Member of Community School Board District No. 23 in Brooklyn in 1983, 1986, and 1989. Furthermore, he received the Distinguished Service Award from The Ohio State University's National Center for Research in Vocational Education in 1986 and was honored as a Special Lecturer at St. John’s University on March 30, 1990. He received a 5-Year Membership Award from The Recording Academy (GRAMMYS) in December 2013, for supporting The Recording Academy’s mission to improve the environment for music and the lives of all members of the creative community. MR EL’s illustrious career stands as a testament to his dedication to vocational education, real estate education, and music education, as well as his unwavering commitment to empowering urban youth through cultural transformation.
